Decatur House is located one block north of the White House on Lafayette Square, on the corner of H Street and Jackson Place.

Parking: Several garages are located near the Decatur House. Street parking is extremely limited, especially on weekdays. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SECRET SERVICE HAS PLACED RESTRICTIONS ON PARKING IN THE WHITE HOUSE VICINITY. Visitors are encouraged to take metro.

Explore the nearly 200-year-old history of Decatur House, its connections to the War of 1812, and its Slave Quarters, one of only a few remaining examples of slave quarters in an urban setting.

The Shop at President’s Square (formally the Decatur House Gift Shop), features a wide variety of gifts and merchandise that relates to the rich history of the White House, the Decatur House, and neighborhood around Lafayette Square. The shop is located at 1610 H Street, NW between 17th Street, and Connecticut Ave., and is open Monday through Friday 10 am until 5 pm. Open on Saturdays but call first, 202-218-4337.
