The Blue Room: Symbols from a White House State Room

100% Silk, Printed Tie

The Blue Room is the principal drawing room on the State Floor of the White House. It is known for its central location, elegant oval shape, and striking vista through the South Portico. President James Monroe, who refurnished the house in 1817 after it had been burned, acquired many furnishings and pieces that are in use in the current decor of the room. Today's bordered wallpaper, sapphire blue silk draperies and upholstery, and oval blue rug are based on designs from the 1817 period. In celebration of the history of this historic State Room, the pattern on our Blue Room tie incorporates the eagle and rosette motifs of the sapphire blue and gold silk upholstery in use in the room today.

100% silk. Printed in France for the White House Historical Association.

Gift box presentation.
