Title: Invitation to dine with President & Mrs. Adams

Description: General Theodorus Bailey, a member of Congress, and his wife were invited to a dinner given by President and Mrs. Adams on New Year’s Day, 1801. The reception was held in the second floor oval room, today known as the Yellow Oval Room. Despite living in a partially unfinished residence, President and Mrs. Adams were determined to host guests in the White House.
