Title: Blue Room, Carter Administration

Description: The wallpaper in the Carter Blue Room was a reproduction of French paper made in 1800. Blue and gold chairs purchased by James Monroe in 1817 surround the fireplace while a mirror with an American eagle is above the mantle. Portraits of Mrs. Monroe (right) and President Monroe (left) grace the creamy walls. The blue and gold rug was made in Peking (Beijing) in 1859.
