Title: White House Reception on the South Lawn
Description: The Carters often hosted picnics on the White House South Lawn. In September 1978, race car drivers came to the White House for a reception given in honor of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. Black and white checkered tablecloths were used to mimic the flag waved to signal the end of a race.
