Title: The Cuban Missile Crisis

Description: President Kennedy leans over the table in a crowded Cabinet Room during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Cabinet Room is next to the Oval Office in the West Wing. During the Kennedy administration, it exhibited portraits of George Washington (seen here over the mantle), Andrew Jackson, and Thomas Jefferson. A model of the clipper ship Sea Witch sits on the mantle. The table around which the president’s advisors sit was given to the White House during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration.
