Title: Tricia Nixon's Wedding

Description: President and Mrs. Kennedy planted grass in the center of the Rose Garden so it could be used more often for White House events. The wedding of Tricia Nixon and Edward Cox occurred there in 1971. Four hundred guests attended the wedding, which was the first such outdoor ceremony held at the White House. Afterwards, the reception was held in the East Room.
