Title: Piano, Roosevelt Administration

Description: In 1938, Steinway and Sons donated this piano to the White House. Musical themes – a Barn dance, a cowboy with a guitar, the Virginia Reel, an African American dance, and an Indian ceremonial dance – decorate the piano. Mrs. Roosevelt held musical performances in the East Room to encourage the country’s interest in music.
