Title: Oil Portrait of Elizabeth Wallace Truman

Description: Under the direction of First Lady Bess Truman, the White House returned to its official social schedule following World War II, with state and diplomatic dinners and receptions. When the Trumans moved to Blair House, furnishings from the State Rooms came with them. The White House they encountered three years later had modern bathrooms, built-in closets, and central air conditioning.
