The White House Historical Association is accepting applications for the full-time position of Director of Marketing. This position would report to the President of the Association, and collaborate with the chief consultant for communications and the Director of Digital Outreach.  

Responsibilities

The Director of Marketing is responsible for executing marketing strategy along Association brand and mission guidelines, in collaboration with the Director of Digital Outreach and Director of Communications. 

The Director of Marketing develops and oversees creation and implementation of promotional materials, such as retail catalog, direct mail, signage, flyers, paid advertisements, etc.; devises marketing campaigns and writes and edits a range of materials related to promotion of the Association’s retail offerings, including the White House Christmas Ornament, public programs, publications, development programs, and educational mission to ensure clarity and effectiveness; and produces in-house design or engages graphic design vendors as needed. 

This role works directly with internal Association departments, including retail, publications, event rentals, education, and public programs, on promotional plans for events and projects. 

In collaboration with the Director of Digital Outreach, the Director of Marketing assists in maintaining brand consistency in graphic identity.

In collaboration with the Director of Communications and chief consultant for communications, the Director of Marketing coordinates promotional materials needed for messaging and representation of the Association to outside media.

In addition to marketing responsibilities, and in the absence of department administrative staff, the Director of Marketing will manage day-to-day department operations, including budget, vendor relationships, invoices, contracts, and interns.

The Director of Marketing reports to the President of the Association.

Qualifications

Minimum of five years marketing experience and basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required. Creativity, brand alignment, strong writing and editing a must.
