The White House Historical Association is accepting applications for the full-time position of Director of Operations. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.


Human Resources

  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development; onboarding; time card management
  • Process payroll (ADP) including retirement account processing on a bi-weekly basis
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management
  • In charge of budgeting for HR and Facilities


  • IT and Phone management for the association, including but not limited to: setting up new accounts, fixing IT and Phone issues, maintaining the inventory list for the associations laptops, maintaining and updating internal phone list, setting up conference calls
  • Manage the facilities team (3 staff members), including scheduling
  • Works closely with the events team for in-house events
  • Supports the President of the association in: special events planning and set up’s for board meetings
  • Schedule monthly staff meetings and send out invitations
  • Liaison between WHHA and: White House for special events (Easter Egg Roll), GSA for maintenance related concerns regarding the 740 and 744 Jackson Place buildings, National Grange office building
  • Oversees and approves all purchases
  • Assists the CFO with the annual audit
  • Manages the day to day operation of the association
  • Schedules and supervises 2 part time receptionists
  • Performs other duties as required


  • Preferred SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification and/or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an HR related role
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

  • Excellent computer skills (PC as well as Mac), outlook, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees
