FAQ

Who is eligible to apply for the 2017 White House History Teacher Institute?

The Institute is open to all middle and high school educators, including librarians/media specialists, curriculum coordinators, and classroom teachers. Applications from pre-service teachers will not be accepted.

How close are the dorms to the site of the sessions? What if I don’t want to stay there?

Dormitories are located on the George Washington University campus, just a ten to fifteen minute walk from the National Center for White House History. Housing will be available the night of Sunday, July 16 through the morning of Saturday, July 22. Participants who choose not to stay in the dorms will still be responsible for the $100 registration fee.

Does the Institute include a visit to the White House?

We do hope to schedule a tour of the White House, but this cannot be guaranteed. Please be aware that even if we tour the house, it is extremely unlikely that you will meet the President or First Lady.
