History Happy Hour is a weekly virtual program hosted by the White House Historical Association. Join us as experts weigh in on a variety of historical topics, share their insights, answer audience questions, and enjoy presidential-inspired libations.

What is it like to write for the most powerful office in the world? How does one find the voice of a president? We will answer these questions and more during this week's History Happy Hour with David Litt and John McConnell.

Litt was a senior speechwriter and special assistant to President Barack Obama. John McConnell was a senior speechwriter for President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. They will discuss their time in the West Wing, the challenges they faced during their tenure as presidential speechwriters, and anecdotes of what it was like to have a front row seat to some of our Nation’s biggest moments in history.
