There could not be a more perfect spot in Washington, D.C., to enjoy the time-honored Easter Egg Roll tradition than the rolling lawns of the president’s backyard. The White House Easter Egg Roll: A History for All Ages has more than seventy commissioned whimsical illustrations that bring the event to life. This history of the White House Easter Egg Roll reveals how each administration from Rutherford B. Hayes through Donald J. Trump has staged the annual event.

In turn, the White House grounds, contained within an iron fence, are the oldest continually maintained ornamental landscape in the United States—and their history extensive. Heavily illustrated with historical images and newly commissioned photography, A Garden for the President: A History of the White House Grounds explores not only the relationship between the White House and its landscape but also the evolution of its design.

Award-winning author Jonathan Pliska will be at the White House Visitor Center to sign The White House Easter Egg Roll: A History for All Ages and his award-winning book A Garden for the President: A History of the White House Grounds. This event is free and open to the public.
