This photograph shows President Truman with members of the Press in Key West, Florida. Advances in communications technology and travel enabled Truman to winter in Key West during his presidency. He spent a total of 175 days over 11 visits to the island. The waterfront house he used was formerly the first officer's quarters on the naval station submarine base.
