The First Baptist Church of the City of Washington D.C. - Photo 6

This sketch depicts First Baptist’s second meeting house located on Tenth Street N.W. Many of First Baptist’s white and free Black members began worshipping in the new church when it was completed in 1834. In 1861, after moving to a third meeting house, First Baptist sold the building to John T. Ford who turned the meeting house into a theatre.
