President's Bedroom, John F. Kennedy Administration

This photograph of the presidents bedroom, looking toward the south wall, was taken by Robert L. Knudsen on May 3, 1962, during the John F. Kennedy administration. The first major piece of fine furniture donated to the White House during First Lady Jacqueline Kennedys restoration, an 18th-century Philadelphia tall chest, can be seen at the center. Above the chest is one of two Childe Hassam Flag Day paintings displayed in the room.
