The image was published in the April 6, 1889 edition of Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper after work previously done by C. Bunnell. The left inset depicts the kitchen during the administration of President Andrew Jackson. The right inset shows Hugo Ziemann, a White House chef during the administration of President Chester A. Arthur.
