East Room, Bill Clinton Administration

This photograph, taken by Bruce White in 2000, features the East Room of the White House looking north. Hanging on the wall are portraits of President George Washington and First Lady Martha Washington. Displayed between the portraits is a 1938 Steinway piano, a gift to the White House from Steinway and Sons. Hanging above the room are ornate chandeliers installed during the Roosevelt renovation. The chandeliers feature cut glass and gilded brass by Christoph Palme and Co., Parchen, Bohemia (Austria-Hungary).
