In December 2006, 20 students were arrested for protesting in Lafayette Park without a permit. They had joined a World AIDS Day Rally. The students dressed as needles, pill bottles, and doctors with coats that read: “missing doctors.” The students aimed to gain media attention by purposefully neglecting to file the permits so they might be arrested.
