Book cover of Colored Man’s Reminiscences of James Madison by Paul Jennings, 1865. It is the first documented memoir by a White House worker and remained obscure for many years because so few copies were printed.

    White House Historical Association Honors Designer and Builder of the White House

    The White House Historical Association placed a wreath at the gravesite of James Hoban, Irish immigrant and the designer and builder of the White House, on Thursday, March 21 at 11:00AM at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
