White House Historical Association Celebrates Obama Official White House Portraits

To celebrate the presentation of the official White House portraits of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, the White House Historical Association hosted a special evening at the National Museum of American History on September 7, 2022.

Speakers included the Association's President Stewart McLaurin; Chairman of the Association's Board of Directors John F. W. Rogers; the Association's Board of Director and former Assistant to President Barack Obama and Chief of Staff to First Lady Michelle Obama, and the former Executive Director of the White House Council on Women and Girls, Tina Tchen; as well as a performance by Miss America 2019 and the Association's Next Gen-Leader and national co-chair representing the arts, Nia Imani Franklin.

The dinner was followed by a discussion on presidential portraiture hosted by David Rubenstein with special guests Robert McCurdy and Sharon Sprung who painted the portraits of President and Mrs. Obama, respectively.
