The White House
“George Washington is the father of our nation. He was the first president of our country.”
Vaibhav from Virginia -
Honorable Mention: 4-8
Jackie
“I chose to do a colored pencil rendering of Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy, who is the 35th First Lady of the United States, using a photo of her as a reference. Mrs. Kennedy restored the White House, worked to save its history, and put in the Rose Garden. She hired the first White House curator, tracked down historical furniture, and preserved the legacy of the White House. Without Mrs. Kennedy, the White House would not be the significant and dignified symbol of the United States that it is today.”
Sophia from Texas -
Honorable Mention: 9-12
White House Egg Roll Through The Ages
“My watercolor painting depicts the yearly Easter Egg Roll that takes place at the White House. The Roll started in 1878, so that portion of the painting is in black and white. The painting gradually gets brighter as the eras continue, and when it reaches 2019, the last official egg roll before Covid-19, the colors are the most vivid. The painting depicts children running and collecting eggs in the White House lawn of this yearly event.”
Christina from New Jersey
