Our organization is committed to fostering a non-partisan environment that celebrates the rich history of the White House and its significance in shaping our nation. To ensure that our History Happy Hour remains a respectful and engaging experience for all participants, we kindly ask you to adhere to the following community guidelines:

  1. Non-Partisan Approach: As representatives of the White House Historical Association, we emphasize the non-partisan nature of our organization. Please refrain from expressing personal political opinions or engaging in discussions that could be interpreted as promoting a specific political party, ideology, or viewpoint. Focus on historical facts, anecdotes, and stories that contribute to a well-rounded understanding of the White House's history.
  2. Historical Accuracy: Ensure that the information you share is accurate, well-researched, and supported by credible sources. Misinformation or historical inaccuracies can undermine the educational value of our events and erode trust in our organization.
  3. Inclusive and Respectful Language: Use language that is inclusive, respectful, and sensitive to the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our audience. Avoid offensive, derogatory, hateful and/or violent speech, or discriminatory language, and be mindful of cultural, gender, and social differences when discussing historical events and figures.
  4. Balanced Presentation: Present a balanced perspective on historical events and figures, recognizing that history is complex and multi-faceted. While discussing controversial topics, aim to provide context and various viewpoints without promoting one-sided narratives.
  5. Q&A and Audience Engagement: During Q&A sessions, encourage questions related to historical topics and events. Refrain from engaging in discussions that veer into current political debates. If a question arises that could be interpreted as politically biased, redirect the conversation back to the historical context.
  6. Stay on Topic: Keep the focus of the discussion on the White House's history and related subjects. Avoid tangential discussions that stray from the main theme of the event.
  7. Professionalism and Decorum: Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the event. Treat fellow speakers, moderators, and participants with respect, even if disagreements arise. Remember that you are representing the White House Historical Association and the importance of civil discourse.
  8. Pre-Event Preparation: Thoroughly research and prepare your presentation to ensure that it aligns with the non-partisan principles of our organization. Familiarize yourself with the guidelines and event agenda to ensure a seamless and respectful experience for all attendees.
