Blodgett’s Hotel was a model for the final design of the Treasury Building. This watercolor by Nicholas King made in c. 1800 shows Blodgett’s on the far right and the unfinished President’s House in the distance on the left. All were located atop a high ridge of land with panoramic views of Capitol Hill, the Potomac River, and Virginia.
