President Herbert Hoover and Baseball
President Herbert Hoover was an avid baseball fan from his early days of playing shortstop at Stanford University. As president, he attended all four Senators home openers from 1929-1932. He also travelled to Philadelphia to watch the Athletics in the 1929, 1930 and 1931 World Series. During his lengthy retirement, Hoover enjoyed rooting for the Dodgers and Yankees from his home in New York City.
