White House During President Arthur's Administration

South Front of the White House. Upon inspecting the White House, President Arthur ordered major renovations. An elevator and a new plumbing system were installed. He hired Louis Comfort Tiffany to create designs for the Red Room, Blue Room, State Dining Room, East Room, and Cross Hall. In total, $110,000 was spent on the White House during Arthur's administration.
