Samantha Hunter-Gibbs joined the Association as the Director of K-12 Education in January 2021 after having previously worked in the education department part-time during graduate school. Originally from southern New Jersey, she came to Washington, D.C. to study at American University where she received her B.A. in History with a minor in Sociology in 2015 and her M.A. in Public History in 2017. She has previously worked for the DC Preservation League, the Concord Museum, and the Rhode Island Historical Society where she also served as the state’s National History Day affiliate coordinator. In 2018, Samantha co-authored an article in the Journal of Museum Education titled “Immigration & Change in Rhode Island’s Golden Age: A Program for Adult English Language Learners.”
