For the first time ever, users can virtually tour the White House and the surrounding President’s Neighborhood, with their iOS and Android smartphones. Temporary and seasonal content introduces users to traditions and special moments in White House history. The app also includes interactive elements such as the White House 360 Virtual Tour, a Presidential Look-Alike selfie-matching feature, and Fly Like Ike, which celebrates President Eisenhower’s legacy by giving users a chance to pilot the presidential helicopter around Washington, D.C.
Leveraging the content of the Digital Library, the White House Historical Association launched the first mobile experience of the White House in 2018. The app is part of an ongoing agreement with Amazon Web Services to assist the Association in promoting its educational mission through the use of cutting-edge digital technology. The app is run on the digital platform Cuseum with support from Amazon Web Services.
In 2020, the White House Historical Association updated the White House Experience app with new features including the White House 360 Virtual Tour and audio and multi-language capabilities. These enhancements were made possible with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the Human Endeavor.
The White House Historical Association thanks the White House, National Park Service, and the United States Secret Service for their continuing support of the White House Experience app.
