Baltimore & Potomac Railroad Station (also called Pennsylvania Station) in Washington, D.C., September 1881, draped in mourning for President James A. Garfield, who fell in the station to an assassin’s bullet the previous July and died in September. President Grover Cleveland’s tour departed from here.
