Lily Pads in South Fountain
This black and white photograph shows water lilies and lily pads in the South Fountain. The plants were placed by Head Gardener Henry Pfister. The edge of the fountain was at ground level, with a border of white stones providing a place to sit. The water was from the Potomac River through an underground pipe.
