President Wilson's Outdoor Office

This photograph shows the outdoor office President Woodrow Wilson set up in the Rose Garden during this summer of 1914. Unable to leave Washington due to his first wife, Ellen's, terminal illness and feeling ill himself, his doctors recommended he get more fresh air. His solution was to move his office outdoors. A tent was erected over the space to protect from the elements.
