Frances Folsom Cleveland's Japanese Maple
This photograph of a Japanese maple along the south drive of the White House Grounds was taken by Bruce White for the White House Historical Association. The maple was planted by First Lady Frances Folsom Cleveland in 1893 on the South Lawn. The Japanese maple tree is located near a fountain near the southern perimeter of the grounds. First Lady Rosalynn Carter planted an identical Japanese maple on the other side of the fountain.
