Yellow Oval Room During the Kennedy Administration

Yellow Oval Room During the Kennedy Administration

Creator: George F. Mobley, c. 1963.

In earlier years, the oval room on the second floor was a library or parlor for the presidential family. Mrs. Kennedy transformed it into a formal sitting room. Filled with French style antiques, the room was used by the president and the first lady to greet foreign dignitaries and to hold private meetings. The room opens onto the Truman balcony.
